The StarNet Commercial Flooring Cooperative has announced that it is producing a national speaker series called, "Mix - The Concrete Truth about Concrete Moisture." This is scheduled to be in the Washington, D.C. area on September 28, 2004. The series, which makes stops in 11 markets nationally this September and October, will cover how to avoid flooring failures due to moisture in concrete in commercial flooring installations. Respected industry leaders, Peter Craig, an independent concrete floor consultant with the firm, Concrete Constructives, and Scott Tarr, a senior evaluation engineer with Construction Technology Laboratories, Inc., will conduct the two-hour presentations in each market.
As a StarNet co-op member since 1998, Commercial Carpets of America (CCA) is pleased that this important seminar is coming to the nation's capitol. Ralph Grove, Manager of CCA's Commercial Group said, "We believe this information is critical to the success of any flooring project...so many project failures are directly or indirectly related to excessive moisture in the substrate."
Participants can receive CEU credits through the American Institute of Architects (AIA), International Interior Design Association (IIDA), and American Society of Interior Designers (ASID). The series is sponsored by Ardex Engineered Cements, Armstrong, Mohawk Carpet, and Nora Rubber Flooring. Attendees my register online at http://www.starnetflooring.com/events/; attendees may also call 877/204-2690. Scheduled time is 11:30 am to 1:45 pm, September 28th, at the Sheraton College Park, 4095 Powder Mill Road, Beltsville, MD.
Lori Dowling, president and CEO of StarNet, said," Concrete moisture is recognized as of the leading causes of flooring failure. This series is a way to educate architects, interior designers and specifiers, that there is a reliable approach to avoiding moisture-related problems...it demonstrates [StarNet's] commitment to providing the most up-to-date information available on industry issues."
